Author Blog Hop! Author Quotes: And the all new singing and dancing Angel ;)

Welcome to my Author Blog Hop answer for Thursday, June 16th 2011:
QUESTION: What is your favourite author quote and why? Question provided by the lovely affiliate author Amy Romine

What a fun question. I have lots, so here are a few:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Mark Twain

I chose this as it’s very inspiring. I love positive empowering quotes, which encourage you to enjoy life and be happy with who you are. To follow your dreams. To live life with no regrets.

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”
Dr. Seuss

Another example of an inspiring quote, with a comical slant!

“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching,
Love like you’ll never be hurt,
Sing like there’s nobody listening,
And live like it’s heaven on earth.”
William W. Purkey

Enjoy life to the full! I can often be found with my iPod earphones in, singing and dancing around the kitchen as if nobody is watching or listening… Even when there is.

Apparently, my talents do not extend to cooking OR SINGING! But that doesn’t stop me trying. 😀
“A scrupulous writer, in every sentence that he writes, will ask himself at least four questions, thus: 1. What am I trying to say? 2. What words will express it? 3. What image or idiom will make it clearer? 4. Is this image fresh enough to have an effect?

Politics and the English Language, 1946″
George Orwell
I have this on my wall, and as silly as it sounds, I find it really makes me stop and think when I’m editing. This is a deadly serious quote from he who should be obeyed.

Oh, and one more… because you can’t have to much of a good thing…

“At fifty, every man has the face he deserves.”
George Orwell             (In Front of Your Nose, 1945-1950 (Collected Essays Journalism and Letters of George Orwell))

Just funny!

Ok, last one. Really. Honest, guv!

“If you want to tell people the truth make them laugh, otherwise they’ll kill you!” — Oscar Wilde.

I just love this purely because it makes me laugh out loud.  I don’t know from where this comes from, but I imagine it’s from one of his many funny characters!
