#Day37 of my #wcjnl challenge | Writing (& Recording) my daily word count

Another way I’m motivated…

Day 37

So, what have I learnt so far from using a word count journal to record my daily word count?

21 days is not enough for me to form a habit! That much is clear.

A smacked bottom acts as a healthy incentive! But we don’t want that every day, do we? No!

So, in short, here’s what I’ve discovered:

Angelika Devlyn

Writing gives me wings!

Pros:

I found it spurred me on to write more, because I know you guys will be watching and it’s kind of embarrassing to say “hey, I’m all talk but no action, right?”

I’ve worked out what days I just do not write much on, and why. Friday’s through to Sunday.  Why? I’m just too busy on those days. I need to get more organised and make time.

Knowing which days I flunk out regularly, actually puts me in a good position to make the extra effort to work around this problem.

This might sound like a silly, childish thing to do – decorate a page in a journal – but actually it feels extremely creative. Sometimes when I’m stuck with something I’ll break and have a relaxing scribble, and a solution to my problem will just spring into my mind seemingly from nowhere.

DAY10-WCJNL

Cons:

It’s clear when I’ve lost my journal… (I know! I can’t believe I did that, too!)

I’m not hugely artistic. That should be obvious from above.

A sore botty might be an incentive not to do that again, but there’s no getting around the fact that it certainly is ouchy.

A hot bum is very hard to sit on, and although it’s uncomfortable to keep writing with burning buttocks, it acts as a constant reminder of why I am doing this; to write and get published.  So, maybe I should move a hot bum to a PRO. But since it’s not something I want to encourage, maybe not.

Targets:

Right now, I’m working to keep writing every Monday through to Thursday, as I know I can do these days more regularly than Friday through to Sunday.  When I’ve got this under wraps I move onto improve my “lazier” days. Although, I wouldn’t really call them lazy, it’s just I have so much going on over those three days finding time to write is difficult. Anyway, I’ll work on that later.

It’s only day 37 out of 100, so I’d better jump to it and get something written for today.

So what have you been up to lately?

Hugs all round,

Yep, that's me!

P.S. I do have some rather exciting news, but I can’t bring myself to mention what it is until it’s finalised. I don’t want to jinx it. LOL

P. P. S.  Have you checked out my “about me” page. The last one was donkeys years old… It needs more “likes” (hint, hint), so please feel free to motivate me!

P. P. P. S. Today I’ve spent a lot of time reading up on how to create an email list.  So, yes, it’s less time writing fiction, but I’m making good progress, and it will be worthwhile. It’s all writing related, right?

Please leave a reply. Many thanks! :D
