Writing Challenges #SoCS

NaNoWriMo Update!

My 2023 NaNoWriMo Winners Badge

Well, I finished NaNoWriMo and achieved the winners badge and certificate by writing just over 60,000 words in November. I’ve since been able to extend my Wrimo challenge to add another 10,000 ish words extra because I want approximately 70,000 words for BLOOD LUST, my dark gothic vampire erotic romance, which is one of my (yes, one) many stories I am working on.

Stream of Consciousness Saturday #SoCS

For this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt, Linda G. Hill has given us the word “confidence” to play with. As this is my first time attempting these challenges, I’ve added the rules below for a bit of fun!

I’m also joining in with another writing challenge I found over at The Daily Spur: Your daily prompts to spur on your writing. This prompt can be used in any way, and format. The Daily Spur word is Angel.

And I couldn’t help but laugh at how appropriate that was for me, since I often sign myself off as ‘Angel’. 🙂

I chose to flesh out a discussion for my current hero and heroine, Lord Draven and his submissive Everly.

Conflicting Nature:

This stream of consciousness captures Everly’s internal conflict between her newfound vampire strength and her role as Draven’s submissive, exploring how confidence and power can coexist with grace and submission.

Everly: “Draven, I feel… changed. Not just as a vampire, but within. My newfound strength, it’s like a fire, igniting confidence I never knew I had.”

Draven: “That strength is a gift, Everly. It is the essence of your new existence.”

Everly: “But how does this newfound power reconcile with being your submissive? Before, I was your ‘angel’, gentle and yielding. Now, I’m wrestling with a force inside me that’s anything but angelic.”

Draven: “Everly, true submission isn’t weakness; it’s a strength. It’s a choice. Your power doesn’t diminish your ability to choose submission; it enhances it. You are not less of an angel but more.”

Everly: “I’m afraid, Draven. I’m afraid that this power will change how I feel, how I act… I’m not sure if I can be the same person I was when you met me.”

Draven: “You don’t have to be the same, Everly. Change is inevitable, especially for us. But remember, being an angel doesn’t mean lacking in strength. Your confidence, your power, it’s a part of you now, just as much as your grace and compassion.”

Everly: “It’s just… I don’t want to lose myself in this transformation. I don’t want to lose the essence of who I am, who you fell in love with.”

Draven: “Everly, look at me. You are still the woman I fell in love with, and more. You are evolving, growing. It’s not about suppressing your power; it’s about integrating it into who you are. Your confidence doesn’t overshadow your nature; it complements it.”

Everly: “But can I still be your submissive? Can I still be your angel?”

Draven: “You will always be my angel, Everly. Your submission is your power, and your power, your choice. It doesn’t take away from who you are; it adds depth to your submission.”

Everly: “I want to believe that. I want to embrace both parts of me – the angel you cherish and the powerful vampire I am becoming.”

Draven: “And you will, in time. Confidence and strength can coexist with grace and submission. They are not opposing forces, but harmonious elements of your being.”

Everly: “I suppose it’s a journey, isn’t it? Learning to balance these aspects of myself.”

Draven: “Exactly. And I will be here with you, every step of the way. You are my angel, Everly, not because you are weak, but because you are strong in your choices, in your submission.”

The rules for Stream of Consciousness Saturday:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a particular subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

Please leave a reply. Many thanks! :D
